Seems like this week I’ve had a lot of the same conversations around prioritization. On several occasions I had clients say something like… yeah but something is going to be dropped or if I do that I’m not going to have time for ___________. Yes, 100%, something is going to be dropped. There isn’t enough time in the day for everyone to do everything all the time. Something is always dropped. There is always a sacrifice. The question is are you deciding what is being sacrificed or are you allowing someone else’s agenda, or someone else’s urgency to dictate what you spend your time on and what’s sacrificed? Prioritizing isn’t just about picking what’s important, it’s also about deciding what you are willing to sacrifice and be okay with. Perhaps some of the things on your plate need to be sacrificed. Perhaps holding on to those exact things are what keeps you from having everything you wanted.
