HABITS

Have you considered growth may be a product of unlearning, not learning?

We’re wired to run on autopilot. We constantly look for ways to make every day tasks more efficient and require less thought. More often than not our results are based on our programmed habits and not necessarily a conscious decision..

What habits have you formed that if you unlearned them would propel you forward in a way you never believed possible? Another way of asking that question would be, what things do you do each day that require little to no thought that if you changed them would create different results in your business or your life?

Want examples?

  • Do you grab your phone as soon as you wake up?
  • Does your car go on autopilot into the Starbucks drive through every day?
  • Do you compulsively check social media and/or email?
  • Do you go out to eat rather than preparing a meal plan each week?
  • Do you smoke when you’re stressed?
  • Do you have consistent negative internal dialogue?
  • Do you hit snooze 5 times before you climb out of bed?

You are where you are because of the decisions you have made and the habits you have formed over time.

If success is created by stringing together a series of productive habits perhaps making small changes can have a huge impact over time. The key here isn’t to turn your entire life upside down. It’s about awareness. If you’re simply aware of the decisions you’re making on autopilot you gain the power to change them.

Make a list of things you’re currently doing habitually that no longer serve you and then make a list of the replacement habits you’re going to adopt. Start with 1 small habit and build from there.
