I don’t know where it originated from however I had a mentor recently tell me the trouble with the world is that the stupid are to sure and the intelligent are full of doubt. In other words, smart people see around corners and they’re see obstacles and/or challenges that a “dumb” person may not see. The ability to look around corners can be a good thing however on occasion it can absolutely cripple someone to the point where they do not take action. This isn’t a thought making fun of people who are not smart however I would like for you to pause for a moment and think about the truth in the statement at the beginning of this paragraph. Have you ever seen someone plowing forward with a complete disregard for all of the pitfalls and risks associated with what they’re doing? They may have started that journey “dumb,” completely blind to those obstacles and pitfalls that were completely obvious to you, the “smart person.” The joke is that those people eventually leave everyone behind because they have started the journey the “smart” person was not willing to take due to their ability to see all of the obstacles. The lessons the “dumb” person learns along the way far outweigh the risks the “smart” person wanted to avoid. Moral of the story is to take action. There are risks and obstacles associated with everything we do. You may not necessarily have the skillset right now to overcome those obstacles however the lessons you learn along the way will allow you to develop those skills and even if you fail you’ll likely be farther ahead than the “smart” person that never started.
