This week I found myself asking several people who felt they were in a slump to recall a time where they were on top of the world. A time they felt they couldn’t lose. Everything was going their way and business was firing on all cylinders. Once we were able to identify that time in their life we would spend a lot of time looking at what caused that to happen. What were you eating? What was your exercise routine? How was your relationship? What was happening in your spiritual life? Were you taking time to pour into yourself? What were you reading? Who were you spending time with?
Once we had a very clear picture of what life looked like in that moment we would compare it to what life looks like today. On many occasions people would say…. I haven’t exercised in 3 months. My spouse and I have hit a rough patch. I stopped going to church.
In every single case we were able to identify something that would allow us to manufacture the previous experience and get them back to being on top of the world.
Can you recall a time you felt this way?
Ask yourself the questions above and find the missing component. I’d be willing to bet money it has to do with the relationship with your significant other, your close friends, or your health. Those seem to be the things that throw people off track most.
