Gratitude

noun

  1. the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

It has been said that gratitude is the most powerful emotion because it is impossible to be grateful and angry, sad, frustrated, etc at the same time. Even the definition describes gratitude as a quality state of being. I’ve found that gratitude is a great way to get perspective and rid ourselves of the circumstantial emotional baggage we may be carrying around. We all have challenges, struggles, frustrations, and stresses of everyday life. I’d be willing to bet there was a time we dreamed of being in the exact position we’re in. Many of us would have done anything we could to have our current challenges. Afterall, paying a ton of taxes is better than dodging bill collectors any day of the week. Being grateful for where we’re at and the lessons we learned along the way reminds us how great our lives actually are and gives us the perspective we need to make the best of our current situation.

Today many of us will gather with our friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving and share our gratitude. I am appreciative of those of you who read these Thursday Thoughts and the feedback I receive on a regular basis. I’m extremely grateful the time I spend reflecting on my coaching week can make such an awesome impact and sometimes be the exact thing someone needed to hear at the right moment. Enjoy the day with your friends and family.
